On Sunday 29th March, 2009 a Sunday morning (9am – 1pm) charity pairs fishing match was held on Vincents Lake at Henlow Bridge Lakes and Riverside. Despite a cold start, the 16 pairs of invited anglers all caught fish, although not big weights. The total catches amounted to 54 lb. The winning pair were Colin Price and Roger Griffiths with a total weight of 20 lb 1 oz.

Roger Griffiths also won biggest fish caught with a mirror carp of 6 lb 8 oz. 2nd Prize winner was father and son team ‘Paddy’ and Sean Clowry with 7 lb 3 oz. 3rd prize went to Gary Easden and Mick Nolan with 3 lb 7 oz. The match prizes were sponsored by Waterline Angling Products and Henlow Building Supplies. The winning pair chose the Multiple Sclerosis Society as their charity choice and a cheque for £160.00 has been forwarded.

The event included 3 lady and 6 young anglers. Steve Corrigan, the Site Baliff and Groundsman said “it was nice to see the mix of anglers, we do promote the Lakes as a family fishery and it was good that the weather turned for us on the day and everyone enjoyed the morning”. The anglers were treated to breakfast rolls with tea and coffee throughout the session which was organised by ‘Billie’ Carstairs.
Fish caught were rudd, roach, bream, tench, carp, perch and gudgeon.
