CHARITY FISHING MATCH

On Sunday 18^th April 2010, Henlow Bridge Lakes hosted a half day charity pairs fishing match with proceeds being donated to the Garden City Hospice at Letchworth. The event was sponsored by Henlow Building Supplies, Linxcroft Construction Ltd and Waterline Angling Products Ltd with £515.00 being raised on the day with the generous support of the sponsors and anglers taking part.

Sixteen pairs of Anglers took part and winning trophies were awarded to Roger Griffiths and Colin Price of Stevenage with a total weight of 18lb 7oz. 1^st Runners up were Terry Benford and Rob Harrod of Stevenage with 11lb 10oz and 2nd runners up were husband and wife team Sue and Colin Farmer of Stotfold with 8lb 10oz. Sue Farmer also won biggest fish caught of 5lb. “Paddy” Clowery was presented with a junior fishing kit by the organisers in recognition of his need for improvement of his fishing skills.

The good weather and fishing company made the day very enjoyable and deemed a big success by all taking part and supporting generously for a local charity. Special thanks to Sue Carrigan, Dave and Billie Carstairs, Tom Mitchael and Paul Sapiano who helped on the day.

Charity Fishing Match 2010

Henlow Bridge Lakes presents a charity fishing match on Sunday the 18th of april from 7.30am with cooked breakfast provided. Finish at 2.30pm with prizes being given out at 3pm. The winner nominates their chosen charity. The event is sponsored by waterline and Henlow Building Supplies. Contact Steve Corrigan on 07929 332642 for further information and booking.

On Sunday 29th March, 2009 a Sunday morning (9am – 1pm) charity pairs fishing match was held on Vincents Lake at Henlow Bridge Lakes and Riverside. Despite a cold start, the 16 pairs of invited anglers all caught fish, although not big weights. The total catches amounted to 54 lb. The winning pair were Colin Price and Roger Griffiths with a total weight of 20 lb 1 oz.

Roger Griffiths also won biggest fish caught with a mirror carp of 6 lb 8 oz. 2nd Prize winner was father and son team ‘Paddy’ and Sean Clowry with 7 lb 3 oz. 3rd prize went to Gary Easden and Mick Nolan with 3 lb 7 oz. The match prizes were sponsored by Waterline Angling Products and Henlow Building Supplies. The winning pair chose the Multiple Sclerosis Society as their charity choice and a cheque for £160.00 has been forwarded.

The event included 3 lady and 6 young anglers. Steve Corrigan, the Site Baliff and Groundsman said “it was nice to see the mix of anglers, we do promote the Lakes as a family fishery and it was good that the weather turned for us on the day and everyone enjoyed the morning”. The anglers were treated to breakfast rolls with tea and coffee throughout the session which was organised by ‘Billie’ Carstairs.

Fish caught were rudd, roach, bream, tench, carp, perch and gudgeon.
